See and Be Seen

A close friend of mine is going through a difficult time in her life – likely one of the most difficult events a person can endure. I am honoured to be a person she comes to for advice and support.

I believe that the universe has a way of giving people exactly what they need at the times they need them. It might not always seem this way when you’re in the midst of a challenge. However, at the end of that challenge and in the reflection of the journey through it, the purpose and lesson are often discovered.

Yesterday, the universe gave me a small kernel of “something I needed.” Something I needed both for myself and the current challenges I face, as well as something I can give to my friend as she navigates the seemingly insurmountable challenge ahead of her.

My life and way of living was previously overhauled through my discovery of Brene Brown; yet over the past few months, I have let her words fall from the forefront of my mind. Yesterday, my twitter feed presented me with a reminder of everything she has taught me: “To see and to be seen, that is the truest nature of love.”

In the words of Brene Brown:

“Lean into the discomfort”

“Show up and be seen”

“Own your story”

“Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they are never weakness.”

Tell me what you think, I'd like to know...
