A Child’s Wisdom

Yesterday A. came to cuddle with me in bed and we had this conversation:

“Mommy, what’s wrong?”
“I’m just a little sad, honey.  I’ll be okay.”
“Why are you sad?”
“I’m just sad because I lost one of my friends.”
“Who, Mommy?”
“Oh, where did she go?”
“She’s in [home city], somewhere.”
“Well Mommy, if she’s lost then can even her kids find her?
“Yes, I’m sure they can find her.”
“Well then, maybe she’s just hiding Mommy.  Maybe you need to go there
to find her too.”

If only it was that easy.

If only we were all that innocent.

  1. *sniff* I know what it’s like to lose a friend, though my situation was a bit different. It hurts for a while and then it doesn’t. Sounds like your little boy is quite perceptive and empathetic. I hope he made you feel a bit better.

Tell me what you think, I'd like to know...
