The first guest post for my birthday week comes from the beautifully talented Purmina. This woman is amazingly talented at sketches and I asked her if she’d be so kind as to make one for me in celebration of my birthday! She is currently featuring a set of sketches and poems on her blog, Purnimodo, as part of something she is calling “Project 30.” Be sure to check her out!
I have never read this posem before, but I absolutely love it! This poem reminds me to celebrate my life and seek out its inherent beauty. I think I often forget about that when I get bogged down in the everyday stress. As I prepare to start a new year, I will reflect on the message of this poem.
The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day
runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.
It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth
in numberless blades of grass
and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.
It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth
and of death, in ebb and in flow.
I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life.
And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.Rabindranath Tagore
