Last year on this day, I was laying in a hospital bed giving birth to my son E. At the end of the bed was K, cheering me on, encouraging me, and finally helping to bring my baby into the world. The day was memorable in its own right, but she just made it a tiny bit better.
Today I was standing at the end of a hospital bed, much like the one I laid in last year. There laid a woman, much like I did one year ago. Beside me stood K – guiding me, encouraging me, and teaching me how to help bring a new baby into the world. Today may be one of the most memorable in my medical education.
If you had told me, on this day last year, that I would be where I was today, I would have never believed you… Never in a million years.
