Whatever our struggles and triumphs, however we may suffer them, all too soon they bleed into a wash, just like watery ink on paper
Arthur Golden ~ Memoirs of a Geisha
Memoirs of a Geisha is my favorite book. And, this is the last sentence.
I love this book so much, and this line summarizes why.
My life – everyone’s life – is the culmination of struggles and triumphs and they never, ever stop. We get bogged down on one thing or the other, we forget the triumphs, we focus on the struggles. Sometimes we don’t see the bigger picture. However, at the end of the day, or the end of the year, or the end of our lives, it’s not these little moments that we look back. Everything blends together in a way that we never imagined and it’s the way it bleeds together that makes our lives beautiful.
